Society of Pediatric Psychology Annual Conference (SPPAC) 2023

Five graduate students from the MAGNIFY lab traveled to Chicago, IL for the annual Society of Pediatric Psychology conference held March 30th - April 1st this year.

Across these five graduate students, they presented four different conference posters, highlighting our lab’s work on benefit-finding and growth, parenting, and barriers to transitioning to adult healthcare - all in families of youth with spina bifida.

Students had a great time networking, attending presentations, and of course, exploring Chicago!

Spina Bifida World Congress (SBWC) 2023

On March 24, 2023, MAGNIFY lab member Raynie Leard presented at the Spina Bifida Association (SBA) World Congress (SBWC) in Tucson, Arizona. She was be a plenary session speaker on behalf of Dr. Kritikos, and presented on the mental health challenges in youth and adults with SB. In addition, she highlighted the MAGNIFY lab’s MAGICC study, which aims to promote mental health in teens with SB and their caregivers through an acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) approach. She had a great time meeting other presenters, clinicians, and families with SB!

Spina Bifida Day 2022 with SBTX!

At the end of July, our 2nd year doctoral student, Raynie, attended SBDay - SBTX’s annual event at Morgan’s Wonderland. She spoke about Magnifying Strengths of Families with Spina Bifida” and met lots of wonderful families who came out to enjoy the park and a variety of other guest speakers. Thank you to SBTX for allowing us to participate!
